Automatic Estimated Billing
Traditionally, the process for processing customer meter readings and producing the associated bills has been a very labour-intensive process for companies.
Typically meter readings information would be recorded manually and then typed into spreadsheets. Often multiple spreadsheets would need to be merged in order to calculate trends in estimated billing. The accuracy of the billing information was reliant on customers supplying meter information, and a substantial amount of time was taken in calling customers to request readings.
SMART’s Automatic Estimated Billing dispensed with the need for staff to manually record meter readings. Instead, each time a meter reading was required, an email was automatically generated and sent to the customer containing a link to a secure customer portal. The customer simply clicked the link, completed the meter reading form that was displayed, and the information was immediately uploaded to SMART ready for billing creation.
This method of estimated billing reduced processing time and freed staff to work in other areas, while placing the initiative firmly with the customer.
